Simcoe Mountains Unit of the Klickitat Wildlife Area

-This photo shows a "biscuit" of deeper soils surrounded by shallower-soiled "swale" scablands at the East Simcoe Unit of the Klickitat Wildlife Area......May 10, 2021. The swales are dominated by onions, Sandberg's bluegrass and vernal wildflowers. The biscuits typically have several buckwheat species on them as well as showy phlox, bitterbrush (Purshia tridentata) and often an oak or ponderosa pine or two. - Habitat of Neviu's onion (Allium nevii), East Simcoe Unit of the Klickitat Wildlife Area......May 10, 2021.

Note: Most of this hike was taken between the elevations of 2700-3400'.
