A view west towards the Columbia River from near the old lookout tower on the upper slopes of Dog Mountain......May 4, 2011. Bloom of the balsamroots and other summit meadow wildflowers will probably peak this year during the next 2-3 weeks, depending on how much warm weather we have between then. Weather: Light wind 5-10 mph from the east, abating by the late afternoon. Temperatures in the 50s in the morning to near 70 in the afternoon.
