[Wildflower Bloom Reports for Central Oregon: 2003]

Shangrila (Slopes on the East Side of Shaketable)

Malheur N.F.

N 44* 16.027' ---- W 119* 22.248' ---- +/- 17'

Elevation 4689'

Malheur N.F. Map Coordinates: T15S R28E east end of section 17 west portion of section 16.

Shangrilah is a small mesa (approximate elevation of 4690') found north of Forest Service Rd #203, directly west of its intersection with 2490. The sides of this mesa are shear enough that easy access can only occur from the northeast side, limiting access by wild horses and cattle. Vegetation atop the mesa is relatively undisturbed and potentially could represent historic range vegetation in the west Malheur N.F.

The area of this study is a grassland slope topped by a small butte at the eastern edge of the Shaketable Research Natural Area.
