A view east across the bisquit-swale topography of the Lawrence Memorial Grasslands Preserve near Shaniko, OR...............May 15, 2010. Bunch grasses (including bluebunch wheatgrass and Idaho fescue) and stiff sagebrush (Artemisia rigida) populate the thicker-soiled biscuits while slender-fruited desert parsley (Lomatium leptocarpum) and perhaps cous (Lomatium cous) can be found in the lower-lying swales.
