Note the creamy petals which are shorter than the sepals. Variety reflexa would have yellow petals that are narrower, either elliptical or narrowly obovate.

The leafy bracteate inflorescence of sticky cinquefoil (var. glandulosa) as seen along forest road #7300,Wenatchee National Forest..........June 8, 2009. The very short, creamy petals are reminiscent of var. reflexa, but the bracts at each branch of the inflorescence are much too large and leaf-like for that variety.

Close-ups of the flower and basal leaves of sticky cinquefoil (var. glandulosa) as seen along forest road #7300,Wenatchee National Forest.........June 8, 2009. Note that the petals are shorter than the sepals and the sepals are covered with long spreading hairs as well as shorter gland-tipped hairs. The leaves typically have 5-7 leaflets, although only 3 may be present on occasion.

Note how much shorter the creamy yellow petals are than the sepals for this
variety. This variety has creamy or yellow petals that are rounded, ovate or obovate. Similar var. reflexa has yellow petals that are narrower than those of var. glandulosa and also petals that are shorter than the sepals
