Hanna-Arbuckle (Hinton Creek) Road

This road is also known as Morrow County Road #789. It ascends from Morrow County Road #771 several miles northwest of the Umatilla NF boundary and proceeds northwest to Oregon Highway 74. The road is often very rough as much of it has been scraped from bare rock, and low slung passenger vehicles need to proceed with caution. In addition, early spring travel on the road is difficult, as there are many wet spots. Some of the ruts are over a foot deep, and I barely made it through even during drier weather. However, the view is gorgeous (Mt Adams and the Horse Heaven Hills to the north and the Blue Mts to the east and south), and although grazed, the grasslands look in pretty good shape.
