Lychnis alba

Note the green and white-striped sepals which are inflated like a balloon behind the white petals.

Fields and roadsides


Characteristics:

1. Grows to 2 feet tall, opposite leaves paired on stem.

2. White flowers have joined petals covered by green striped sepals at their base. Blooms May through July.

3. Petals notched at tips.


Uses:

1. European weed.

2. Pretty flower for gardens.
