Poet's Shooting Star: Dodecatheon poeticum

Bonneville Shooting Star, Desert Shooting Star, Slimpod Shooting Star: Dodecatheon conjugens (conjugens var. conjugens, Dodecatheon conjugens ssp. viscidum, Dodecatheon conjugens var. conjugens, Dodecatheon conjugens var. viscidum) - Flowers pink, rose or purplish with 5 petals. Plants glabrous. Filament tubes (the filaments may all be free) short, up to 1 mm long and dark colored.

Cusick's Shooting Star, Sticky Shooting Star : Dodecatheon cusickii (Synonyms: Dodecatheon cusickii var. cusickii, Dodecatheon pauciflorum var. cusickii, Dodecatheon pulchellum ssp. cusickii) - Flowers pink, rose or purplish with 5 petals. Plants noticeably covered with gland-tipped hairs. Filament tube 1.5-2 mm long, yellowish. Leaf margins mostly entire.

Broadleaf Shooting Star, Broad-leaved Shooting Star, Henderson's Shooting Star, Mosquito Bills: Dodecatheon hendersonii (Synonyms: Dodecatheon hansenii, Dodecatheon hendersonii ssp. cruciatum, Dodecatheon hendersonii ssp. parvifolium, Dodecatheon hendersonii var. hansenii, Dodecatheon hendersonii var. hendersonii, Primula hendersonii) - Flowers pink, rose or purplish with 5 petals. Leaves broadly ovate to deltoid. Inflorescence with gland-tipped hairs. Filament tube nearly black, half as long to nearly as long as the anthers.

Stigma strongly capitate (a small rounded ball at its tip). Inflorescence often with gland-tipped hairs.

Narcissus Shooting Star, Poet's Shootingstar, Poet's Shooting Star: Dodecatheon poeticum (Synonym: Primula poetica) - Flowers pink, rose or purplish with 5 petals. Scapes and pedicels noticeably covered with gland-tipped hairs. Filament tube 1.5-2 mm long, purplish. Leaf margins with minute teeth.

Alaskan Shooting Star, Darkthroat Shootingstar: Dodecatheon pulchellum ssp. macrocarpum (Synonym: Dodecatheon pauciflorum var. alaskanum, Dodecatheon pulchellum ssp. alaskanum, Dodecatheon pulchellum var. alaskanum, Dodecatheon pulchellum ssp. superbum) - Flowers pink, rose or purplish with 5 petals. Plants generally glabrous or with some minute hairs. Filament tube (at least in the Gorge) yellowish, over 1.5 mm long and about half the length of the anthers.
