Members of the Valerian Family Found East of the Cascade Mts.:

The Genus Plectritis - Wildflower to 24 inches tall, but generally much shorter than that. Leaves opposite, ovate in shape. Flowers white, with a rounded spur or bump. Flower cluster thumb-sized atop the stem.

Valerians and Heliotropes: The Genus Valeriana -

Blue-flowered Corn-salad: Valerianella locusta - Annual with dichotomously branched, weak stems. Flowers pink or blue in small heads or cymes with subtending, linear bracts. Corollas small, up to 2 mm long.
