Habitat:

Moist grassy slopes or meadows.


Characteristics:

1. Flowers showy, 6-petaled, blue to white, at least 5 flowers per stem. Flowers at top of stem in a raceme.

2. Thick grassy leaves at base.

3. Egg-shaped bulb.

4. Plant to 1 ft tall.


Uses or Importances:

1. Bulb dug & eaten as important food source of indians.

2. Bulbs must be baked first.

3. Pretty wild flower or garden plant.
