Habitat:

Mergansers live along wooded rivers & lakes.

Traits:

1. Male: Long white body, black back, & green head. White patches on back in flight.

2. Female: Long gray body with crested rusty head . Belly is white. White wing patch in flight.

3. Long, thin bill to catch fish.

4. Diving duck.

5. Mergansers are very shy, it is vary hard to get close to them. They are not a gamebird.
