Habitat:

Grainfields, marshes, grasslands, shallow lakes or rivers.

Traits:

1. Long-legged, long-necked, gray bird with a bald red crown.

2. Some have reddish stains on their gray bodies.

3. About 4 feet tall with 7 foot wingspan.

4. In spring, they hop, jump, and flap their wings in a mating dance.

5. Voice is like a squeaky fiddle.

6. Usually found in groups.
