Grasses: Flowering Plants with Primitive Flowers

The photo above shows a typical grass, in this case timber oatgrass (Danthonia intermedia). Angiosperms with tiny flowers like the grasses tend to be wind pollinated (the flowers are too small to attract insects or hummingbirds).

The photo above shows a close-up of the flowers ofa grass, in this case, pinegrass (Calamogrostis rubescens) from the Cascade Mts. of the Pacific Northwest. Each flower of the grasses is small, and lacks the petals of the larger flowering plants.

Flowering plants are also examples of Angiosperms!
