Conifers

The photo above shows the long needles as well as the female cones, in which the seeds may be found of a conifer tree (in this case, western hemlock: Tsuga heterophylla). Be aware that not all conifer trees are evergreen. The larches and tamaracks of the Cascades and Rocky Mts. of the Pacific Northwest lose their needles each winter.
