#8. Benedict's reagent is used to indicate the presence of simple sugars in a substance by turning from blue to green, yellow, red or orange when heated.

During an experiment, Benedict's reagent is dropped into a simple sugar solution with the resulting solution turning orange when heated.

This test is an example of a positive control because we are testing a known solution of simple sugar to see what a positive test looks like.
