[First Review of Enzyme Reactions]

7. Why does reaction rate level off when adding more substrate if the amount of enzyme is kept constant?

A) The enzyme active sites are all full, so the reaction has to wait a few minutes for the enzyme to digest the substrate and start eating anew.

B) All enzyme active sites are filled with substrate so some of the substrate has to wait to react, thus keeping the reaction rate constant.

C) The enzyme is working so fast that it gets hot and the active site denatures.
