A fibrous protein is one that is simply
a long polypeptide chain without any complex folding or coiling. They tend to
have a 2-D shape to them (length).Examples of fibrous proteins include 1)
collagen & 2) actin & myosin (muscle fibers).
Globular proteins are one or more polypeptide
with complex coiling or folding, giving them a 3-D shape. In many cases, several
different polypeptide chains are bonded together to make a larger, globular
protein. Examples of globular proteins include : 1)
insulin & 2) hemoglobin & 3)
enzymes like catalase.
