[Review for Cell Test]

27. The process occurring below is a kind of active transport known as cotransport. The cell uses ATP energy to move 3 Na ions out of the cell while 2 K ions are pumped in. This is known as the sodium-potassium pump. The sodium potassium pump is coupled with a second protein channel so that as Na diffuses back into the cytoplasm through the coupled channel, it helps bring the large sugar or glucose molecule in with it!
