How to Make Percent Concentrations by Mass for Solutions

To make percent concentrations by mass for any solutions you need to make, always choose the first solution's percent. Let's say you want it to be 5% solute by mass........

5% solute solution = Mass 5 grams of the solute you wish to use placed in 95 ml of water (Remember 95 ml of water = 95 grams of water!).

10% solute solution = Mass 10 grams of the solute you wish to use placed in 90 ml of water.

etc...........

Remember to test many concentrations at regular intervals for best results! Note: Solutions over 50% solute by mass are difficult to make because the solute wants to precipitate out rather than dissolve!
