Many-flower Indian-pipe, Pinesap: Monotropa hypopitys (Synonyms: Hipopitys fimbriata, Hipopitys lanuginosa, Hipopitys monotropa, Hypopitys americana, Hypopitys fimbriata, Hypopitys lanuginosa, Hypopitys latisquama, Hypopitys monotropa, Monotropa hypopithys ssp. lanuginosa,Monotropa latisquama) - Several flowers per stem. Plants brownish, dull reddish-brown or occasionally yellowish-tan. Frequently found in coniferous duff beneath trees.

Indianpipe, Indian Pipe, One-flower Indian-pipe: Monotropa uniflora (Synonyms: Monotropa brittonii, Monotropa morisoniana) - Flowers single per stem. This plant is a ghostly white in color, and does have a shape like a pipe used for smoking. Frequently found under trees or near logs in thick rotting wood duff.
