Field Crescent: Phyciodes pulchellus

The photo above shows the upperwing pattern of a field crescent as seen just above Island Springs or on the lower slopes of Little Mt. Adams to the east of Mt. Adams........August 12, 2006. This individual evidently landed upon the pumice slope to await the passage of a large cloud which briefly cooled the surroundings.
