9, 2006. Pearhip roses are usually found in the lowlands and foothills in locally
moist areas within a much drier landscape. Note the inferior
ovary, sepals and underside of the flower. Pearhip rose generally has the outer
surface of the sepals containing at most a few gland-tipped hairs (as seen here)
or with smooth, glabrous surfaces.
Pearhip rose blooming along the eastern loop of the Willard Springs Trail at Conboy Lake NWR......June 11, 2020. Note the multiple flowers arising from the same place which help separate this from bristly Nootka rose (Rosa nootkana ssp. macdougalii) which can also be found along the trail.
