Dwarf huckleberry in bloom at left as photographed in meadows at the western edge of Bird Creek Meadows on Mt. Adams along the Round the Mt. Trail #9.........July 19, 2009. Note the ovate or obovate leaves and the flowers which are about as wide as long. The similar Vaccinium caespitosum has oblanceolate leaves and flowers that are longer than wide. It also has leaves lower leaf surfaces which are glabrous or green, not glaucous. The photo at right shows blueleaf huckleberry with mature fruits as seen along the Round the Mt.
