The snow has only recently departed the open fields of Conboy Lake NWR. It still lies in shallow drifts where it was deposited during wintertime plowing of the roads, and lies in deeper drifts or patches in the conifer forests. The drifts are noticeably deeper and more prominent the furtner north and eastward one drives in the area around Glenwood.

Currently, the road into the Willard Springs trailhead is closed by snowdrifts at the northern boundary to Conboy Lake NWR.
