The inflorescence is very congested and capitate. The petals are lacking or very much reduced, yellowish or greenish-white if present. Found east ot the Cascade Mts. from Okanogan County south to Yakima County in Washington and in the Steens Mt. in southeastern Oregon.

Rusty Saxifrage, Alaska Saxifrage: Micranthes ferruginea (Synonyms: Saxifraga ferruginea, Saxifraga ferruginea var. ferruginea, Saxifraga ferruginea var. foliacea, Saxifraga ferruginea var. macounii, Saxifraga ferruginea var. vreelandii, Saxifraga vreelandii) - Leaves basal, oblanceolate wit 3-4 pairs of teeth at the tip. Inflorescence an open, spreading panicle. White flowers have 3 larger petals with 2 yellow-orange spots near the base and 2 smaller petals with out markings. Found generally from the eastern base of the Cascades westward.
Brittle-leaved Saxifrage: Micranthes fragosa (Synonyms: Saxifraga fragosa, Saxifraga fragosa ssp. claytoniaefolia, Saxifraga fragosa var. fragosa, Saxifraga integrifolia var. claytoniaefolia, Saxifraga integrifolia var. claytoniifolia, Saxifraga nidifica, Saxifraga nidifica var. claytoniifolia) - The leaves are all basal, the blades broad and abruptly narrowed to the petiole (which is often as long as the blade), the margins generally entire. The petals are white and generally longer than the sepals. Found east of the Cascade Mts. from Okanogan County in Washington south to southern Oregon and east to southeastern Washington, northeastern Oregon, and western Idaho. Filaments like thin petals, club-shaped, widest in the middle. Petals sometimes with 2 yellow dots near their base. Found from the foothills of the Wenatchee Mts. (Tumwater Canyon), in the lower basin of the Clearwater River of Idaho, and the lower Snake River Canyon of Idaho and Oregon.
Common Western Saxifrage, Northwestern Saxifrage, Wholeleaf Saxifrage: Micranthes integrifolia (Synonyms: Saxifraga integrifolia, Saxifraga integrifolia var. integrifolia, Saxifraga laevicarpa) - Early spring wildflower to 18 inches tall. Leaves are basal, oval or elliptical in shape, with entire margins. The blades narrow gradually to the short petiole. The flowers are white and generally longer than the sepals. Common in moist banks and seepage slopes which dry out during the summer. Found mostly west of the Cascade Mts. but extending up the Columbia River to Wasco County in Oregon.

Inflorescence more congested, pyramidal, the branches ascending, greater than 5 cm long during flowering. Found along the east side of the Cascade mts at fairly high elevations from Mt. Rainier south to Mt. Adams and into the Columbia River Gorge. Also found west of the Cascade Mts.
Brook Saxifrage, Streambank Saxifrage: Micranthes odontoloma (Synonyms: Saxifraga aestivalis, Saxifraga arguta, Saxifraga odontoloma, Saxifraga puncata var. arguta) - Leaves all basal and kidney-shaped with numerous triangular teeth. Petioles 2-3 times longer than the blades. Flowers on cymose panicles. Petals white and orbicular in shape, although the petals may be different sizes and shapes on the same flower. Could be confused with Saxifraga punctata.

Merten's Saxifrage, Wood Saxifrage, Woodland Saxifrage: Saxifraga mertensiana (Synonym: Saxifraga mertensiana var. eastwoodiae) - Blades of basal and stem leaves round with large teeth on the margins, each tooth tipped with 3 smaller teeth. Flowers small, in an open panicle, with 5 narrow white petals. Prefers wet places.
