Addidtional close-up views of Davidson's late penstemon as seen at the Steens Mountain summit, Harney County, OR..........September 1, 2011. The similar Davidson's penstemon (Penstemon davidsonii var. davidsonii) has also been reported from this location. The latter differs from the former in having rounded leaf tips rather than acute tips and blue to blue-purple corollas ranging from 20-36 mm long while the former has blue-lavendar to violet corollas ranging from 34-45 mm long. The upper pair of photos show the perils of using two different cameras which may show the color of the corolla differently.
