Barnacle Goose
Branta leucopsis
Barnacle Goose at Portland, OR. (Spring/82)
The barnacle goose is an Old World species which is rarely seen
on the west coast of North America. I believe this one was at the pond at Portland
Audubon during February or March of 1982. It may be identified by its dark back
and neck, and large white face with its black bill.
