Mosquitoes are insects whose larvae live underwater, and whose adult forms live as pests near marshy areas. The larvae feed on plant materials. They breathe air, coming to the surface where they move their abdominal tubes to the surface to respire. Adult females drink the blood of warm-blooded vertebrates, sensing their prey with special heat-seeking antennae. The males are exclusively nectar feeders, and as such are important flower pollenators.
