3. The difference between an atom and an ion is that atoms
which are neutral contain equal numbers of protons and electrons. Atoms are
thus neutrally charged.
Ions are atoms which contain different numbers of protons and
electrons. Ions thus have an imbalance of charge and are thus electrially charged.
