20. Lock and key
fit means that an enzyme has an active site with a specific shape to
which only one substrate must fit exactly. This means that there is only one
substrate ( or one set of substrates) molecule to fit the active site of each
enzyme. The fit must be like a "lock and key". The active site is
unable to modify or induce itself to change shapes to fit other substrates.
