1. Small purple flowers in whorls of six alternating with 2 bracts. Early spring to summer bloom period.
2. Square stems.
3. Flowers and leaves at stem apex. Grows 4-8 inches.
1. Some use dried leaves as a tea for sore throats.
2. Crushed leaves were used on scrapes, bruises and insect bites.
3. Perenial lawn pest adapts to mowing by reducing size.
