Habitat:
Moist shady woods.
Characteristics:
1. Leaves deeply parted with 5 to 7 leaflets. Leaves have a stiff hairy texture
to them.
2. Flowers bell-shaped, yellow to light purple with stamens longer than petals.
3. Flowers at tip of stem in a curved, loose fiddlehead arrangement (cyme).
4. Plants wilt quickly when picked.
Uses or Importances:
1. Leaves eaten by grazing animals.
2. Local Indians ate the roots.
