28. The symplastic route of water and mineral movement is able to pass directly through the endodermis into the vascular cylinder for conduction up to the leaves.

Water and minerals that pass through the cell walls of the root cortex cells into the interior of the root are blocked from passing through the endodermis and thus must enter the cytoplasm of a cortex cell adjacent to the endodermis to pass into the vascular cylinder.
