16. There are more chloroplast containing cells in the upper
half of the leaf than in the lower half as that is where the cells have more
access to sunlight. As light travels through the leaf, an increasing amount
of its spectrum has been absorbed, which creates shade. Thus the lower part
of the leaf receives less light.
