7) Outline the structure of a RNA nucleotide [5]
The RNA nucleotide consists of a phosphate group, the 5-carbon sugar ribose and the nitrogen base [consisting of one of the following: Adenine (A), Uracil (U), Cytosine (C) and Guanine (G)].
Ribose differs from the similar deoxyribose of DNA by having an additional oxygen on the #2 carbon (an –OH rather than the –H of deoxyribose).
