6) Outline the structure of a DNA nucleotide. [5]
The DNA nucleotide consists of a phosphate group, the 5-carbon sugar deoxyribose and the nitrogen base [consisting of one of the following:
Adenine (A), Thymine (T), Cytosine (C) and Guanine (G)].
Deoxyribose differs from the similar ribose of RNA by having one less oxygen on the #2 carbon (an –H rather than an –OH).
