[IB Biology Chemistry Labs]

Exercise 5

Biologically Important Molecules

1. Ahead of time: Read pages 41-48 in the lab manual. Do not worry about performing the exercise about nucleic acids on pp. 49-53.

2. At the beginning of the lab, draw Tables 5-1 through 5-3 on your paper. Leave enough space between each table to write a specific summary of the results for that test. Turn in at the end of the period or next time.

3. Next class period, you will be testing a "Happy Meal" for the organic molecules found in it. The same test procedures can be done. However, you must prepare the meal components so they are testable. Before the next class period, begin formulating a plan you can use to test the "Happy Meal".
