46. A plant cell is different from an animal cell primarily
in that the former has a cell wall and chloroplasts (not all plant cells have
chloroplasts!), while animal cells lack these two organelles altogether.
Plant cells typically have a larger central vacuole than animal
cells, while only a few animal cells have large vacuoles (like fat cells).
Animal cells have the plasma membrane as a cell surface membrane,
while in plants, the plasma membrane is inside the cell wall.
Plant cells use either photosynthesis or aerobic respiration
to obtain ATP energy. Animal cells use aerobic respiration as their ATP energy
source. They can't photosynthesize.
In general, both types of cells have all the other cell organelles
in common.
