7. The conditions under which photorespiration occurs in plants
would be those that lower the concentration of CO2 within the leaf but at the
same time increase the oxygen concentration in the leaf.
Such conditions occur when high light intensities and/ or high
temperatures begin causing excessive water loss from the leaf, so much so that
the stomata shut down. As the light-independent reactions continue, the CO2
levels drop, while O2 levels increase as a result of continuing light-dependent
reactions.
