8. It might be an advantage for a green plant to have lots
of beta-carotene in its chloroplasts because chlorophyll a does not absorb
& utilize the green wavelengths of light (hence leaves reflect green light
and appear green to the eye.). Having a supply of beta-carotene enables the
chloroplast to utilize some of the green wavelengths of light, making them more
efficient in the utilization of light.
