17. The central nervous system is the
central or main part of the nervous system, involving only the brain itself
and the spinal cord.
The peripheral nervous system is all
those smaller nerves which connect body organs and sensory organs to the central
nervous system. Peripheral nerves essentially connect all the outer parts of
the body to the spinal cord and brain.
