4. An antigen is any pathogen, piece of a pathogen containing cell ID markers, or foreign substance that stimulates the production of antibodies by the body.

Antibodies are proteins manufactured by the immune system that recognize and are specific to one antigen. Antibodies cause the antigens to clump together (so they are easier to find and destroy) or help stimulate their destruction by phagocytic lymphocytes.
