11. Structure K is
the bicuspid valve. It is also called the left
atrio-ventricular valve.
When open, the bicuspid
valve allows oxygenated blood to flow from the left atrium to the left ventricle.
When closed, it prevents flow of blood from the ventricle back to the atrium.
