Coast Douglas Fir, Douglas Fir: Pseudotsuga menziesii var. menziesii (Synonyms: Abies mucronata, Abies taxifolia, Pinus taxifolia, Pseudotsuga douglasii, Pseudotsuga mucronata, Pseudotsuga taxifolia)

A mature douglas fir with tall stature, branches of bottlebrush needles (radiating from the branches in all directions), pointed buds, and cones pendant from the ends of the branches. True firs have erect cones. The hemlocks have pendant cones but these lack the rat-tail bracts of douglas fir (See photo below.).
