Close-up photos of a sideview of the flower and a stem leaf of common
St. John's-wort at the Mt. Adams Viewpoint on Rd #23 on August 6, 2005. It is
not easy to see here, but with a hand lens, one can notice numerous minute,
circular areas in the leaf blade which let light through, hence the species
name perforatum.
