[Pussypaws: The Genus Cistanthe West of the Cascade Mountains of Oregon and Washington]

The photo at left shows one-seeded pussypaws along the Pacific Crest Trail about 2 miles east of Red Buttes, Klamath National Forest, Siskiyou County, CA.....July 14, 2020. There are several scapes per basal leaf rosette, each with small leaves on them which is typical for C. monospermum. The photo at right shows what may be one-seeded pussypaws along the Pacific Crest Trail on the north side of Observation Peak, Rogue-Siskiyou National Forest.....July 15, 2020. It has one stem amonst several basal leaf rosettes with yellow anthers which suggest C. umbellatum, but the scape has multiple, well-developed small leaves which leads me to believe this is C. monospermum.
