The photo above shows Hooker's fairy bells
ensnared by a peavine (Lathyrus sp.) at a large clearcut at approximately
2540' along forest Rd 82 on Mt. Adams............May 7, 2005.

a large bumble bee as seen at Island Cabin Campground on the southeastern flanks
of Mt. Adams...........May 19, 2006. Note the tiny spreading hairs
on the peduncles as well as at the base of the tepals. The similar fairy lanterns has tepals which hang straight down
rather than flaring outwards at the tips.
