Sweet Gum: Liquidambar styraciflua This tree is found as a native tree on the east coast of the United States. It is commonly planted as a domestic tree in cities and towns on the west coast. Its leaves look like those of maples, but the leaves alternate along the stem (maples have opposite leaves).
