Torrent sedge growing on a rocky bank of the Klickitat River a mile or so downstream of Pitt.......October 14, 2012. Note the dense, tussock-like growth with gracefully arching, slender leaves. This species grows on rocky banks in the scour zone of swift-flowing rivers. There are stretches of the river where this is still a dominant species, but it has been replaced by canary reedgrass in places which are disturbed and have had deposition of alluvial fines.
