The perigynia of what might be Sitka sedge as seen in a ditch along Old Highway 8 at Rowland Lake, western Klickitat County, WA...............May 20, 2011. I'm not convinced that this is Sitka sedge because the perigynia don't look quite right, but the other possibilities seem to typically have shorter female spikes. I will return later in the season to check on this when plants are more mature.
